FAQ

I am Jewish with a strong background on Jewish culture and issues. Am I still eligible?

Yes, the program will go into great depth on contemporary Jewish topics, introduce fellows to a wide range of experts and sources, and help create lasting peer and mentor networks.

Do I have to attend every retreat?

Yes, the retreats are the fellowship. In-person participation at all three retreats is mandatory for the completion of the fellowship, as well as participation in the one hour monthly Zoom sessions between retreats. Fellows must commit to taking part in all retreats and online sessions.

Who oversees the fellowship project?

All fellows must complete a reporting project related to Jewish issues within nine months of the start of the fellowship. The choice of project is up to you and your editor. If you are a full-time journalist or a freelancer, your assignment editor will approve your project. Karsh Fellowship Mentors can provide feedback and guidance on your projects. The leadership of the fellowship does not approve, vet, edit or otherwise control the output of the fellows.

How can I help the fellowship reach more journalists?

You can donate to the nonprofit, nonpartisan Karsh Journalism Fellowship.

Is the fellowship open to journalists living anywhere in the United States?

Yes. The fellowship covers travel expenses.

I have more questions. Whom do I ask?
